ArtWalk: the beauty of waste

ArtWalk is an independent project to create awareness about design and the environment and promote creativity and community on the Garden Route.

Art + Environment + Community = ArtWalk

The Artwalk was launced by local artists Melissa Daitz and Bruce Adams with 4 outdoor sculptural installations made from recycled materials. Over the last year and a half visitors and locals have enjoyed viewing the installations in the grounds of timberlake.

Why

The ArtWalk is a platform for artists and community projects to come together to create outdoor sculptures in a way that:

– Creates something beautiful from waste,

– Develops Art and design on the Garden Route,

– Raises awareness for artists and local community craft projects,

– Stimulates conversation and education about the Environment.

How

Artists and community projects come together to create outdoor sculptures to be viewed for a full year at timberlake.

A sculpture can be initiated by artists or community projects. Each sculpture will need to send a concept brief to the ArtWalk project co-ordinators.

News

A new installation will be unveiled on the central circle at timberlake during the month of December 2014.
